Say No to Violence – Build Peace in Our Communities, Kogi State.

Distinguish Leaders,
Respected elders,
Youth leaders and wonderful citizens of Kogi State,

It is with great honor and a deep sense of responsibility that I am calling today to enlighten us on a matter that affects us all "the urgent need to say No to Violence and work together to build lasting peace in our communities"

Kogi State is blessed with rich diversity — a beautiful blend of cultures, languages, and traditions. But this blessing can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect. To this end, I urge every sons and daughters of Kogi to consider three critical steps that can help us achieve a more peaceful and united society.

First, we must promote inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony. No development can take place where division and distrust prevail. Let us embrace our differences, not as a source of conflict, but as a strength that binds us together.

Second, we must empower our youth — not with weapons or political manipulation, but with education, skills, and employment. A hopeful, engaged youth is a pillar of peace not a tool for violence.

Third, we must support and strengthen our local mechanisms for conflict resolution. Our traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community elders must be empowered to mediate disputes and promote dialogue. A problem resolved in peace today prevents violence tomorrow.

Let us rise together and declare: Violence has no place in our homes, our communities, or our beloved State. Together, we can build a Kogi State that is safe, just, and prosperous for all.

Say no to violence. Say yes to peace. Say yes to a better Kogi.

Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Community Peace Building.
