World Malaria Day, observed on April 25th 2024 at Delta eradicate the South-South community to flag off the change necessary in Malaria Narrative. 

As to strive towards zero Malaria in South-South community the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement south-south, engaged with the community to protect and control Malaria through sanitation of the environment, medical facilities against Malaria and initiate World Malaria Day establishment by the World Health Assembly in 2007 to provide an opportunity to highlight the global efforts to control malaria and also serves to remind of the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria prevention and control in the community.

Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. It is preventable and curable, yet it remains a significant public health problem, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

The theme for World Malaria Day changes each year and focuses on different aspects of malaria control and prevention. Activities on this day include community events, educational campaigns, and the distribution of resources to help raise awareness about malaria and mobilize action to combat the disease.

Overall, World Malaria Day plays a crucial role in keeping malaria high on the global health agenda and encouraging efforts to reduce the burden of this preventable and treatable disease.
